Sustainability

UEB’s environmental policy was established to constantly remind us of our connection to the planet while quietly encouraging others by our example. The measures we undertake include:
  • Providing eco training for employees
  • Purchasing smaller, more fuel efficient company trucks
  • Use of Call2Recycle® for recycling of all jobsite and office batteries
  • Extensive use of *BIM
  • Electronic submittals
  • Separation of construction wastes
  • Not using bottled water or plastic cups
  • Office wide recycling program
  • Purchasing green office supplies
  • Use of natural, non-toxic cleaners
  • Use of teleconferencing, GoTo Meeting and Basecamp
  • Flexible work hours, telecommuting and compressed work week
  • Periodic review of our environmental performance through employee task force
  • "Shopping list" estimating checklist for analysis of green building options on all projects
These efforts support our stewardship goals. We actively look for opportunities to connect to the communities and organizations we serve and advance sustainable practices in all industries...not just construction.

BIM and Sustainability

Behind every building there is waste. The BIM process supports our environmental efforts by reducing waste materials during construction. With Revit and Navisworks as our primary building modeling and clash detection tools, the workflow and communication among our integrated project delivery teams is streamlined. The use of BIM also drastically reduces need for paper drawings during design and increases accuracy and speed of construction.
